Vocational Education

St Ursula’s College is a Registered Training Organisation delivering two nationally recognised qualifications on campus. The girls can choose to undertake a Certificate II in Hospitality, Certificate II in Business and/or a Certificate III in Fitness. Many students in the Senior School are involved in School Based Traineeships or Apprenticeships which allows the girls to train on the job in paid employment and provide formal training in the process. The TAFE in Schools program and courses offered by private training providers are another avenue for Senior Students wishing to pursue a vocational career pathway. Such courses include:

  • Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Certificate IV Justice Studies
  • Certificate II Hairdressing
  • Certificate III Design Fundamentals

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a growing area at St Ursula’s College and is supported by the VET Coordinator Anthea Gray. Ms Gray is an experienced teacher and VET trainer and assessor, holding a Masters of Education in Guidance & Counselling. Many students choosing alternative pathways to complete year 12 undertake a combination of vocational programs to develop employability skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications in addition to the QCE. VET programs are designed to provide practical skills and knowledge and ensure that students have increased employment options available after school. The transformative learning framework of the College supports all girls undertaking a VET program. The VET Coordinator provides assistance and guidance in all areas including work experience, School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships and TAFE in Schools enrolments.
